Labour's Catherine Ashton to be paid £133,500 a year to do nothing?

Baroness Ashton - Labour Peer
Catherine Ashton, Baroness Ashton of Upholland, PC is a British Labour politician who in 2009 became the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy for the European Union.

According to research carried out by The Daily Telegraph, the Labour peer will received from October of next year the amount of £133,500 a year until the end of 2017 for doing absolutely nothing.

Lady Ashton will not have to pay British rates of taxation for high income earners either. They call it the transitional allowance and they say that it is the price for the total independence of senior EU officials who is also Vice-President of the European Commission who must also 'ask permission for any job'.

We have just been talking about budget cuts and people living on the edge, having to listen to patronizing individuals talking about probity in public affairs, and here comes yet another example of legalised corruption.
